Stair Clips
In Victorian times, stair clips were a popular and fashionable accessory, however modern fitting methods sadly consigned them to history.
At Quality Carpet Trims, we have revived this beautiful product for your home
Our stair clips are solid metal and we use traditional manufacturing methods to give them quality and authenticity.
They will recreate the look of yesteryear and add a distinctive touch to your stairs.
The Product
- The Stair Clips are for runner carpets only
- The Stair Clips are sold in pairs, the price is per pair and you are ordering in pairs
Fitting stair Clips
- Fitting the Stair Clip is easier if done before fitting the carpet.
- First, mark the width of the carpet where the tread meets the riser, use this mark to line up the inner edge of the fixing plate with where the edge of the carpet will be.
- Next measure the height of the carpet and underlay, this will give you a guide to ensure you fit the Victorian Stair Clip level.
- Now line the bottom surface of the Clip with the carpet height mark and have the fixing plate perfectly level.
- Mark with a pencil around the fixing plate.
- Pivot the fixing plate and line it up with the pencil mark and mark the holes.
- Stair Clips are supplied with number 6 screws and you must drill a pilot hole before fixing the brackets to the stair.
- For softwood create a 2.5mm pilot hole and for hardwood create a 3mm hole.
- Remember to set your power drill on a low torque setting to avoid breaking the screws

Care and Maintenance
We recommend using a damp cloth to keep the clips clean, any household cleaners used to clean the wood and paint work of the staircase should be applied to the cloth and not directly onto the surface of the stair, as over spray can cause a speckled tarnish on the clips.
If any liquids are inadvertently spilled on the stair clips, they should be cleaned immediately with a damp cloth and dried with a clean cloth
